Happy July!

We’ve had fantastic humpback whale sightings (along with the sheer number of sightings!) in the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary this month. Come out and join us on a tour.

On the calendar front, July 9 was International Save the Vaquita Day, a day reserved for raising awareness and appreciation for the world’s most endangered marine mammal. Here are 8 things you can do to help protect the vaquita.

And here are some local events in the San Francisco Bay Area:

  • Thursday, July 14th at 6pm in San Francisco: Surfrider July Happy Hour at the Residence.
  • Wednesday, July 27th at 7pm in Sausalito: ACS Meeting - Sex on the Breach: A Summer Sizzler Peeks into the Reproductive Practices of the Oceans Whales
  • Thursday, July 28th at 6pm: BigPicture NightLife at the California Academy of Sciences
  • Saturday, July 30th at 1pm: The Walt Disney Family Museum and the Marine Mammal Center present The Myth of Monstro and Other Whale Tales
