Conservation Field Projects

Suriname Sea Turtles »
The Oceanic Society, in cooperation with the Suriname Foundation for Nature Preservation, is conducting a sea turtle conservation project at the Galibi Nature Reserve in Suriname.
The coastal area in and around the Galibi Nature Reserve is of international importance, not only as a nesting site for green and leatherback turtles, but also as the only place in the Atlantic where historically olive ridleys nest in mass "arribadas."

Turneffe Biodiversity:  Belize Dolphins, Manatees and Biodiversity »
Turneffe Atoll is the most biologically diverse and largest atoll in the Western Caribbean, supporting a number of endangered and endemic species.

Ulithi Sea Turtles »
Ulithi atoll is home to several "Turtle Islands", of which five are identified as significant green turtle nesting sites by the local people.  There has not been a long-term study on marine turtles conducted in Yap, which has led to gaps in important information regarding the local green turtle population.
