Expedition Coordinator Job Opening
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Oceanic Society is a nonprofit marine conservation organization founded in 1969 whose mission is to protect wildlife and preserve threatened marine habitats worldwide. Our experiential outreach programs foster public awareness and support a conservation ethic. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong public relations and customer service skills. The candidate should enjoy multi-tasking, meeting deadlines working in a busy, small office environment
I. General Function - Responsible for the administration of International Expeditions; respond to questions via telephone and e-mail; take reservations, billing and interfacing with the public and naturalists
II. General Responsibilities
1. Answer phones and provide program information.
2. Register and process reservations via telephone and web requests for international programs
3. Organize and distribute pre-departure information and materials as well as record post-trip details when trips have concluded.
4. Prepare bills and process payments.
5. Interface with naturalists and researchers.
6. Provide monthly financial summary to Operations Manager.
7. Operational and Marketing Responsibilities: as delegated by the Director.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication skills,
- Excellent public relations and customer service skills
- Multi-tasking abilities with accuracy and attention to detail
- Good with figures
- Experience with Word, Excel, social media
- Some experience in the travel or hospitality industry
- 3+ years administrative experience
- 4 year college degree in biology a plus
HOURS: 40 hours a week, M-F, occasional overtime required. Some international travel.
COMPENSATION: Depending on Experience. No benefits. 10 days vacation annually
