Southeast Alaska Journey

Whales, Bears & Natural History

Journey to the three premier locations for whale watching in all of Southeast Alaska: Frederick Sound, Chatham Strait and Stephens Passage, on this ten day voyage. Journey through the protected waters of Alaska's Panhandle from Wrangell to Petersburg on the Pacific Coast aboard the 65-foot private yacht Snow Goose.

Southeast Alaska is an island-studded wilderness scattered along a narrow belt of mainland mountains. We should enjoy daily sightings of majestic humpback whales on their feeding grounds. Other highlights include glimpsing the black and brown bears, dolphins, porpoises, minke whales, and Steller sea lions. We also visit the tidewater glacier at Tracy Arm.

Each day we cruise through different waters and enjoy daily shore excursions to explore forest trails on easy nature walks, tide pools and rocky shores; many of our walks take us into the Tongass National Forest. By night we lie at anchor in remote secluded inlets and coves.

Travel and accommodations are aboard the 65-foot motor vessel Snow Goose. Twelve participants are accommodated in double occupancy cabins, with three shared toilets (heads) and two hotwater/freshwater showers. The small size of our vessel permits close access to on-shore wildlife and narrow tidal channels not accessible to large cruise ships.
