Gray and Blue Whales, Kayaking & Snorkeling

Kayaking with the dolphins and whales and snorkeling in clear, azure waters are the highlights of this 7-day kayak adventure. From our base campsites at Isla Carmen and then Danzante, we make daily excursions to explore the rich marine ecosystem of the Sea of Cortez. The adventure can be enjoyed by beginners, as well as skilled paddlers.

For this specialty program, we are pleased to partner with Sea Trek, a California kayak outfitter founded in 1982. Sea Trek has introduced thousands of individuals to kayaking, and has operated week-long guided kayaking trips to trips to Baja and Alaska.

Our itinerary will depend on the daily sea conditions. Our intention is to explore as much of the local paddling waters as possible. We use a support boat to provide more amenities and you pack and carry only your personal gear in your boat, leaving you more time exploring and paddling in lighter kayaks. Snorkeling in the clear water will be a highlight as well the daily opportunities to see marine mammals. A day-trip to Magdalena Bay is included to maximize our opportunity to observe gray whales. To optimize our chance for seeing blue whales, we will join a whale researcher from Mexico on a field excursion by panga boats.

No previous kayak experience is needed to participate. This adventure can be enjoyed by beginners, as well as offering skilled paddlers relished challenges. . All snorkelers, from novice to expert can enjoy this program

Itinerary:

Day 1:
Arrive in Loreto. Overnight

Day 2:
Magdalena Bay to observe gray whales by local panga boats.

Day 3-6:
Sea of Cortez paddling. Base camp on Isla Carmen and then Danzante. Day excursion for blue whales.

Day 7:
Morning paddling. Return to Loreto and overnight.

Day 8:
Fly home.
