Sustainability for Ocean Health

Oceanic Society Guide: Sustainability for Ocean Health

1. Choose sustainable fished or farmed seafood. Not all seafood is created equal. For information on ocean-friendly seafood, visit the Seafood Choices Alliance at www.seafoodchoices.org

Is There a Catch to that Catch?

Savor safe and sustainable seafood.

More and more of us are choosing seafood, but often we are not making smart choices. Far too many ocean species are over-fished, approximately 2/3 according to the UN, and many types of aquaculture are damaging to the environment. By opting instead for "ocean-friendly" options, you can eat well and do good.

Ecotourism and Code of Ethics

OCEANIC SOCIETY - ECOTOURISM CODE OF ETHICS

We believe that responsibly conducted nature tourism can help save natural areas - by contributing to the "business" of conservation.  When traveling to the world's parks and reserves, individuals help to protect them by supporting an economy in harmony with wildlife and habitat conservation.
