Michelle María Early Capistrán is a Social Oceanographer at Stanford University with expertise in coastal livelihoods and community-centered marine conservation. She integrates cultural anthropology with marine science and data science to center local and generational knowledge systems in conservation practice. For over a decade, she has collaborated with coastal communities on sea turtle conservation and sustainable fisheries, championing equitable partnerships for sustainable ocean futures. Michelle is a Smith Conservation Fellow and earned her PhD in Marine Science from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
