About This Trip
A one-way route between Juneau and Sitka, this itinerary is built around two of Southeast Alaska's richest and least-traveled waterways, Sitka Sound and Peril Strait, alongside a full day inside Glacier Bay National Park. This expedition is operated by our partner, UnCruise Adventures, and offered to Oceanic Society travelers with an exclusive discount and a portion of proceeds supporting our ocean conservation work. Aboard the Safari Endeavour, enjoy kayaking, skiff tours, guided hikes, and open paddles, chosen daily based on wildlife activity and conditions rather than a fixed script.
Wildlife is the throughline of the week. Guests can expect orcas and bubble-net feeding humpback whales, coastal brown bears on Chichagof Island, and mountain goats and Steller sea lions inside Glacier Bay itself, along with guided naturalist presentations on the region's history, flora, and fauna. The route through Peril Strait, historically significant to both Indigenous and Russian Alaska, and the swirling currents of Baranof Island's South Wilderness add a layer of place-based history not found on the round-trip Juneau itineraries. Ending in Sitka, rather than returning to Juneau, gives travelers the option to extend their trip with time in one of Southeast Alaska's most historic port towns.

Sample Itinerary
A first full day in the Tongass National Forest, with the day’s destination chosen by the captain based on season and wildlife activity. Expect bald eagles, harbor seals, and a chance at early whale sightings.
A full day inside the park’s 3.3 million acres, with kayaking, skiffing, glacial ridge hikes, and moraine walks.
A flexible day of kayaking, shore walks, and bushwhack hikes, with skiff rides opening access to otherwise unreachable coastline.
