We are excited to share a new educational video all about sea turtles, their biology, life cycle, and the efforts to protect them.

This short film is the second episode in our “Sea Turtles: Deep Dive” series, an educational YouTube series produced by our State of the World’s Sea Turtles (SWOT) Program with support from Seiko. The first video in the series explored the impacts of plastic pollution on sea turtles. This video series is part of our ongoing commitment to increase awareness and understanding of these amazing marine creatures.

In Sea Turtles 101, you’ll learn about:

  • The seven living sea turtle species
  • Their remarkable journey from hatchlings to long-lived adults
  • The biggest threats sea turtles face today
  • How conservation programs are working to protect them

The Importance of Learning About Sea Turtles

Sea turtles are some of the ocean’s most iconic inhabitants, and understanding their biology, habitats, and threats is essential if we want to protect them. In this short video, we introduce the fascinating world of sea turtles – ancient mariners that have roamed our oceans for over 100 million years. The video highlights the seven living sea turtle species, touches on their remarkable life cycles from hatchlings to long-lived adults, and outlines some of the challenges they face in today’s oceans. With it, we hope to spark curiosity and inspire deeper learning about these iconic creatures.
