About This Trip
This land-based extension is designed to pair with any of the four Alaska cruise itineraries above, giving travelers who've come all the way to Alaska a way to see the interior after their time at sea. This program is operated by our partner, UnCruise Adventures, and offered to Oceanic Society travelers with an exclusive discount and a portion of proceeds supporting our ocean conservation work. Over seven nights, the route moves from Fairbanks, Alaska's interior hub, south through Denali National Park to the small mountaineering town of Talkeetna, and on to Anchorage. Days combine cultural experiences (reindeer walks, gold panning, Alaska Native cultural programming) with a five-hour narrated wilderness tour into Denali itself, one of the best wildlife-viewing drives in the state, and active outdoor time in Talkeetna, including a guided hike on the Curry Ridge Trail and kayaking on Byers Lake with clear-day views of Denali's summit.

Through the Expedition Impact Program, your participation supports local ocean conservation projects in visited destinations, coral restoration, and plastic pollution offset initiatives.

All activities listed in the itinerary, transportation between destinations, some meals, taxes and fees, and other scheduled expedition activities.
What's Not Included
Airfare, travel insurance, gratuities, personal expenses, and hotels between cruise disembarkation and the start of your Denali tour.

Sample Itinerary
Visit a local reindeer farm, pan for gold with a local mining family, and explore the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitor Center.
Travel south to Denali National Park, stopping at the Denali Discovery Center in Healy for a short guided hike along the way.
A five-hour narrated Tundra Wilderness Tour deep into the park, watching for bears, moose, and caribou, followed by a guided afternoon hike.
Hike the Curry Ridge Trail (roughly 5 to 6 miles) for sweeping mountain views, then kayak on Byers Lake in Denali State Park.
A guided hike through the Talkeetna Lakes area, watching for loons, kingfishers, moose, and bears, before taking the scenic train ride from Talkeetna to Anchorage and enjoying dinner on the train.
Accommodations
Lodging is comfortable and well-appointed, with stays at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge in Fairbanks, Denali Bluffs Hotel, and Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. Most meals are included throughout the journey. As a fixed-departure program operating on a weekly Saturday schedule during the Alaska season, careful planning is essential to coordinate the land itinerary with your chosen cruise.
