We are thrilled to share that Oceanic Society’s Farallon Islands Whale Watching Trip has been named a 2025 Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award winner, placing us among the top 10% of experiences worldwide!

This recognition is based on consistently excellent reviews from travelers on Tripadvisor over the past year — a reflection of the unforgettable wildlife encounters, passionate naturalists, and ocean conservation mission that make our trips unique.

“This recognition reflects the incredible dedication of our staff, the richness of California’s marine ecosystem, and the power of connecting people to nature,” said Chris Biertuempfel, Associate Director of California Programs. “We’re proud to offer an experience that not only delights travelers, but also allows them to contribute directly to ocean conservation and research at the Farallon Islands.”

We extend a heartfelt thank you to every guest who joined us on the water and took the time to leave a review. Your words inspire new ocean advocates and help us grow our impact.

“Awe inspiring experience. Cannot recommend enough. Besides how incredible it is to see whales up close (we saw humpbacks and blue whales), the naturalists are extremely knowledgeable and the boat crew is respectful of maintaining peace around these mammals. If a mama whale and her calf were passing by, we didn’t chase after them. We were graced by fantastic breaching displays many other times, however. Glorious. Amazing. Mind-blowing.” – Roxana H.

TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards celebrate the very best in travel, and we are proud that our San Francisco-based whale watching program, which directly supports ocean conservation, continues to make waves.

“Congratulations to Oceanic Society on its recognition in Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2025,” said Kristen Dalton, President, Tripadvisor. “Ranking among the top percentage of businesses globally means you have made such a memorable impact on your visitors that many of them took time to go online and leave a glowing review about their experience. We hope this recognition continues to drive business to you in 2025 and beyond.”
