At Oceanic Society, we work hard to maximize the impact of every contribution we receive. We take responsible financial stewardship seriously, and our steadfast commitments to effective management, transparency, accountability, and impact have earned us the highest recognitions from third party charity evaluation organizations.

We are proud to announce that we have achieved the following accreditations.

Charity Navigator: 4-Stars (100%)

Oceanic Society has been awarded the prestigious 4-star rating, achieving a perfect score of 100%. This designation as a “Give with Confidence” nonprofit underscores our effective utilization of donations. Charity Navigator analyzes nonprofit performance based on four key indicators: Impact & Results, Accountability & Finance, Culture & Community, and Leadership & Adaptability beacons.

“We are delighted to provide Oceanic Society with third-party accreditation that validates their operational excellence,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “The Four-Star Rating is the highest possible rating an organization can achieve. We are eager to see the good work that Oceanic Society is able to accomplish in the years ahead.”

Candid (Formerly Guidestar): Platinum Rating

Oceanic Society has achieved the Platinum Seal of Transparency Rating from Candid (formerly Guidestar), placing us among the top 0.1% of nonprofits nationally for transparency. This recognition signifies our commitment to sharing clear and comprehensive information about our goals, strategies, capabilities, achievements and progress indicators with the public.

BBB Wise Giving Alliance: Accredited Charity

Oceanic Society has met all 20 standards outlined by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance for Charity Accountability. This evaluation reviews charity governance, effective reporting, finances, fundraising practices, appeal accuracy, and other issues. See our profile here.

“The public can be assured that every charity evaluation is completed with careful, objective analysis of charity information,” says Art Taylor, president and CEO of the BBB Wise Giving Alliance, “By achieving accreditation, Oceanic Society has earned public trust having demonstrated its commitment to sound governance, transparency and achieving its mission.”
